2012 MACQUARIE PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- Entrants in the Macquarie Photography Prize (MPP) can be from any country and any age.
- Copyright
- Entrants will retain copyright in their photograph.
- Each Entrant grants the MPP a non-exclusive perpetual licence to use photograph images to promote the MPP, including (without limitation) in both digital and print form and to exhibit the photograph images in public places and on the MPP website. The MPP will credit the photograph source where possible.
- The MPP will endeavour to prevent non-authorised reproduction of the image, but is not liable for any such reproduction.
- If (and only if) the Entrant agrees, the MPP will sell print enlargements of the image. The printing of enlargements for sale are the responsibility of the entrant with the MPP to receive a 30% commission rate on each sale.
- The print enlargements prepared for exhibition as finalists remain the property of the MPP after exhibiting concludes but will not be sold. The prints will then be included in albums to be shown at future MPP exhibitions.
- The photographs submitted must have been taken since 1st April, 2011 and must have been the work of the entrant.
- Photographs may be either colour or monochrome.
- Photographs in the sections for ‘STORMS’ and ‘ARCHITECTURE’ must be single capture with no retouching that affects the authenticity of the photograph. Digital adjustments for exposure and contrast and colour are permitted. Scenes photographed must have been found and not staged. The images must have been observed, but not fabricated in any way by the photographer. Entries will be judged in the context of a documentary image and the print quality.
- Photographs in the section ‘FUNNY FACES’ must be single capture with no retouching that affects the authenticity of the photograph. Digital adjustments for exposure and contrast and colour are permitted. The photograph may have been posed for. Entries will be judged in the context of a documentary image and the print quality.
- Photographs in the ‘ARTHOUSE’ section may be enhanced, manipulated, retouched or altered in any way. Subject matter can be anything. All changes to photographs must be undertaken solely by the entrant.
- Entrants may enter either online via the Australian Art Sales website or by postal entry. Photograph images submitted are to be a maximum of 1.0MG at 300DPI and in JPEG format. Postal entries will be required to submit an image of the original photograph on a CD. Multiple postal entries should be recorded on one single CD.
- A pre-selection process will take place from the entries to produce a shortlist of 25 photographs per section to be finalists judged and shown in the exhibitions.
- Entry fees are $10.00AUD for the first photograph and $5.00AUD for each subsequent photograph via postal entry. Online entry via MPP website is discounted to $5.00AUD only each photograph. There will be no restriction on the number of photographs entered by each entrant. Fees are non refundable.
- Entry fees can be paid via PayPal or in the form of a cheque or money order made payable to the Macquarie Photography Prize.
- Entry forms, either online or postal, must be received complete with images and entry fees by The Macquarie Photography Prize on or prior to midnight by the 24thMay, 2012.

- Entrants whose photographs are selected as finalists for exhibiting will be notified by the 7th June, 2012. Finalists will also be named on the MPP website at this time. Unsuccessful entrants will not be notified.
- Entrants whose photographs are selected as finalists are responsible for the photograph print enlargement to be exhibited. Prints must be in Matte finish. Print enlargements are to be no greater than 45cm (18”) on any side and no smaller than 30cm (12”) on any side in image finished size. Prints can be square or rectangular.
- Print enlargements must have the name, contact details of the entrant and title of the photograph marked on the rear of the print enlargement.
- Finalists will be required to deliver the photograph print enlargements selected as finalists for exhibition to P.O. Box 4689, Dubbo East, NSW, Australia, 2830 at their own expense by the 30th June, 2012.
- The MPP will take all care but no responsibility for the print enlargements selected as finalists during exhibition periods.
- Framing for finalist print enlargements will be supplied by and at the expense of the MPP.
- Judging by Mr Craig Parry will take place on the 7th July, 2012 with the winners of each category announced on that night. The Judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The exhibitions will be held in Australia from 7th July, 2012 at Sydney, Dubbo and Orange.
