MPP People's Choice Winner

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

CRAIG PARRY
WINS THE INAUGURAL
MACQUARIE PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE
PEOPLE'S CHOICE

Craig Parry from Lennox Head on the NSW North Coast has won the MPP People's Choice  and receives a television from Harvey Norman valued at $1,000.
Craig's incredible shot taken in Fiji which places the viewer inside the perfect wave was part of the wonderful 'Live Action' section.
Voting was widespread across the categories which indicates a strong show. Indeed many of the public opted out of voting with many visitors describing it as 'too difficult to choose just one photograph'.
Placing 2nd was Donna Behsman from Dubbo with 'Who Left the Tap On?' and 3rd Daniel James from Minmi with 'Crunch'.
Craig has kindly accepted the invitation to judge the 2012 MPP.

TOM RILEY WINS INAUGURAL
MACQUARIE PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE

Tom Riley from Dubbo has won the 2011 Macquarie Photography Prize with his photograph titled 'Lake Annecy Boatman'. Lake Annecy is situated in the South East of France.

Judge Wolter Peeters from the Sydney Morning Herald described the shot in these words -
"Tom's almost painting-like photograph transports one into the solitude of the moment and his understanding of the craft is obvious".

The photograph is a beautiful balance between majestic mountains and a calm lake, captured in an ethereal half light with a lone oarsman in isolation. It is one of those once in a life time shots.

The MPP is currently exhibiting in Dubbo as part of the St Brigids Easter Art Fair.
